Tuesday morning at 11:00 am, the former Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe, presidential candidate, gave a press conference at the Hotel Le Plaza (at Champ de Mars) to provide an update on the progress of his candidacy.

"[...] I have great respect for all members of the Superior Court of Auditors [...] as you know, the Superior Court of Auditors has released three reports on how I handled the money of the State [...] there is a report on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a report on the Primature and report on the Ministry of Planning, both of these reports, that of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the one of the Primature are correct and without problems.

I have a report on the Ministry of Planning, for which I have serious reservations about what they put inside [...] I wanted to talk about that today, in addition of the message of solidarity to be able to detail the transactions that are in this report, which I consider as flagrant errors and light in handling the case.

When we did our analysis of what we have seen in the report, we have a team who did a lot of analysis, we believe in our institutions, we believe in strengthening our institutions and we believe in the Superior Court of Auditors [...] and we also believe that this injustice can not pass [...] we understand that this report has a political implication [...] when a report comes out like this, an uninformed person can understand things that are not [...]

On a budget of over 28 billion gourdes the Ministry of Planning had in hand and it managed, because the Ministry of Planning is a cross-ministry, it means it is connected with all other ministries, and although we agree that if they want to put subsidies to the basics organization, popular organizations if they want to keep them, we will not put them in disputes, it means that there are 7 million gourdes that we agree, that should remain in the report. This means that of 28 in billion gourdes we have less than 1/30th of % (0.025%) of irregularity that we recognize. We will hand the dispute letter to Parliament,because for us, the three reports are positive," declared Laurent Lamothe at the many journalists present.

In response to the report of the CSC/CA the former Prime Minister who clearly does not intend to mix politics with the accounting aspects, responds point by point, with supporting documentation, to unfounded assertions of the CSC/CA in handling the case of the Ministry of Planning that managed Laurent Lamothe.
