On Thursday, Prime Minister, Paul Evans, proceeded to the installation of the engineer Clement Bélizaire as the new Director General of Housing Construction Unit and Public Buildings (UCLBP).

In his speech, Harry Hadam, the outgoing Director, presented a positive balance of the three years at the head of the UCLBP "The work was not easy [...] but thanks to the dynamism of its various partners, the institution has managed to make its mark in a coordination or implementation of major projects. Among others, the Kiosk Occide Jeanty, the inauguration of 5 squares, 5 sports complexes, the Ciné theater Triomphe, the Champ de Mars, the Court of Cassation and more, including the relocation of thousands of families, victims earthquake of 12 January 2010."

A review welcomed by the Head of Government, which, by giving the investiture to the new head of the UCLBP, recalled the responsibilities of the new Director who will have "as mission to ensure the coordination or implementation of public construction projects and housing in the national territory; encourage private investment in the reconstruction of urban areas destroyed by the earthquake of January 2010 and conduct a comprehensive reflection on the reconstruction and then propose to the Government, a post-earthquake reconstruction policy."

Recalling that the 3 axes of intervention of the UCLBP remain the same. These are public buildings, social housing and relocation/rehabilitation. In his speech, the new Director promised to fulfill its new tasks, while praising at the same time the spirit of its predecessor which is for him "a brother and a serious collaborator." Mr. Clément Bélizaire believes that his success as head of the 16/6 project is an asset to the UCLBP.
