Tuesday, within the framework of strengthening relations of friendship and cooperation between Haiti and the Kingdom of Spain, in the presence of President Michel Martelly, was signed in the National Palace, an agreement to plan the bases and modalities of the Spanish cooperation in close collaboration with Haiti's priorities for the next three years.

This agreement that focuses on the treatment of the water and the development of education, coupled with the strengthening of Haitian institutions, with a budget of 129 million euros, was signed by José Manuel García Margallo, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Spain to visit Haiti and the Haitian Chancellor Lener Renauld.

The signing was also an opportunity for the two Chancellors to discuss bilateral relations between the two countries, to give them a new impetus in the context of the implementation of the action program of the Haitian Government focused on national development priorities.

It should be recalled that Spain is one of the main bilateral cooperation partners with Haiti, which concentrates most of its assistance to Haiti: in water and sanitation programs, in education (teacher training and implementation of literacy campaigns) and in the improvement of agricultural development and fisheries throughout the Haitian territory.

Following this meeting, the Spanish Chancellor described as "excellent" the quality of relationships with Haiti. He also said that Spain was already supporting the electoral process and that his country was looking with allies and friends of Haiti a formula to help Haiti develop economically.
