As watchdog of democratic gains in Haiti, the Citizen Observatory for Institutionalizing Democracy (OCID), a consortium of civil society composed of the Civil Society Initiative (ISC), the Ecumenical Center for Human Rights humans (ECHR) and JURIMEDIA, is strongly concerned about the consideration of the aspirations of citizens in public policy at all levels. It is in this perspective that falls its recent national survey of political commitment and the concerns or desiderata of the population at the approach of the next elections in 2015.

Wednesday OCID presented the results of its investigation, which has mobilized from 23 to 31 May 1,463 observers (730 teams of 2 people) of its network, interviewing 3,704 citizens of voting age and from different social classes, representative of the Haitian population in general about their main concerns in relation to the country, their interest in political issues, their perception of leaders and political leaders, their associative life, their opinions on specific aspects of the electoral process and of national political institutions.

This study of more than 50 pages, led by Professor Neil Nevitte of the University of Toronto, attended of the Haitian statistician Denis Antoine Joseph and of the technical team of the OCID has treated include : of crucial problems of the country as perceived by the population; of the interest in political issues; community involvement; opinions on policies; the ratio of citizens in elections; experiences and voting intentions; electronic voting...

The study of OCID rich in systematic data on the political culture and the Haitian electoral environment, is aimed at the general public and particularly the current and future policy makers, political parties, organizations of civil society and international cooperation.
