Taking of hostages at BEC of Beaumont

On Monday, a high tension reigned at Communal Electoral Office (BEC) of (Grand Anse) after Marc Daniel André, the parliamentary candidate for the constituency under the banner of Peyizan platform and some of its supporters, have taken hostage officials of that Bureau, dissatisfied with the choice of electoral supervisors they accuse of being relatives of PHTK candidate for the same constituency. By late afternoon, the protesters closed the doors of the BEC.

Financing of parties, the formula already changed...

It was agreed that 10% (instead of 30%) of the 500 million Gdes (50 million) will be split pro rata to the 120 authorized political entities (even those who have no candidate). The remaining 90% of the 500 million (450 million) will be divided into 5 parts :

20% (instead of 10%) to accredited parliamentary candidates (proportionately);

10% (unchanged) to approved Senate candidates (proportionately);

20% (unchanged) to the 56 presidential candidates under the banner of a political party (except independent candidates - Article 126.1);

25% (instead of 20%) candidates in municipal and local elections (proportionately);

15% (instead of 10%) to political parties which have the most women candidates, the university candidates and the most candidates with disabilities (in proportion).

Leaders of political parties, started flowing Monday at the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP), in Petion-ville to fulfill their financing application form for their formations. Frantz Bernadin, Spokesperson of CEP denied responsibility of the Council in the delay in the release of funds to 12 days before the election (August 9), noting that the CEP will only redistribute envelopes made available to the political organizations and candidates.
