Haiti - Education : Literacy has not obtained the expected results

Mozart Clerisson, the Secretary of State for Literacy, presented this week the new literacy project for the next 3 years, said that this project presented improvements aimed at correcting the previous plan, which "has not achieve the expected results"... For the Secretary of State, Haiti wastes money for tens years, while studies have shown that the beneficiaries of the literacy program, may again become illiterate if they do not follow a post-literacy program . Recalling that the literacy program (duration 6 months) corresponds to the kindergarten level, while the post-literacy program, a 4-year period corresponds to the primary level. 27,770 people out of a little over 40,000 who managed the literacy campaign (2013-2014), so will participate, from October in a post-literacy pilot project implemented in 8 Department funded by the State to the tune of 600 millions gourdes.
