Haiti - Elections : The candidate Jerry Tardieu challenges his result

The candidate for deputy for Pétion-ville, Jerry Tardieu, VERITE, decided to challenge his result of 30.86%, which according to him should be 34.59% or 26.05% more than his opponent and not 22.05%, with regard to minutes (procès-verbaux) in his possession.

"I just take cognizance of the results of the first round of the 2015 legislative elections published by the Provisional Electoral Council and displayed in the Departmental Electoral Office West https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-14899-haiti-flash-complete-results-of-the-elections-of-august-9-2015.html . Although these results put me far ahead with about 31% [30.86%] of votes (my closest opponent realizing only 8% [8.34%]), I note with amazement that the number of votes allocated to me is less than the number I've effectively benefited with regard to the minutes in my possession.

Indeed, a tabulation of these minutes allows me to say without risk of being wrong that I finish ahead of the election race for the deputation of Pétion-ville with 34.59% of the vote versus 8.54% for my closest opponent. This result gives me 26.05% more votes, confirming my victory in the first round. [according to Article 52.1 of the Electoral Decree, which states: On the occasion of the elections, the candidate for deputy receiving the greatest number of votes, who have not obtained an absolute majority, is the winner in the case where his lead over his immediate opponent is equal or superior to twenty-five percent (25%).]

Faced with this situation, I have decided to challenge the results such as allows me to Articles 175, 176 and following of the Electoral Decree. The only explanation for this anomaly resides in a possible setting aside of a significant number of the minutes during re-entry of data at the Tabulation Center.

Under the rights that grant me the Electoral Decree, I will present in support of the said challenge all the minutes in my possession and a complete file stating the exact number of votes obtained by the candidates in competition. This documentation will be submitted to justify our approach and to obtain from competent bodies that they accept a thorough check of the minutes [...]" writes in a press release of explanations the candidate Jerry Tardieu.
