The CEP considering to rule out other candidates

Monday, Frantz Bernardin, the Spokesman of the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) at the conference, said that the revision of the various irregularities and violence reported in the elections of 9 August continued. He revealed that the CEP planned to rule out other candidates from the electoral race. According to the spokesman, electoral advisors are actively working to document cases of violence that disrupted the voting process on 9 August.

Single candidate : Failure of the Protestant sector

Tuesday, 6 of the 7 candidates for the presidency of protestant sensibility met at the Marriott Hotel behind closed doors around the choice of one of them as the sole candidate of this sector for the presidential election. CTV denied the illegality of the calculation methods

Widmarc Matador, Director of Votes Tabulation Center (CTV), rejected the accusations of some candidates to the Senate regarding the illegality of the method of calculating the percentage of votes. He explained that the determination of the percentage of votes of each candidate from the number of valid votes is provided in the Electoral Decree, what's allowing to get these preliminary results. He said that the CTV could not determine the percentage from the number of voters, since no ballot was sent to CTV.

In Artibonite, the auditing sessions of challenges of the results of first round of legislative, began on Wednesday 26 August, ended on Monday. 24 of 26 cases were heard during that period. Claudel St. Hilien, President of the Departmental Electoral Office (BED), indicated "Unlike some parts of the country, the hearings went smoothly. By the end of the week, for the 26 cases received, the BCED will issue its decision." Tuesday the electoral court ruled on the analysis of files and requests that were made.
