The cholera epidemic is still a major humanitarian concern, at the moment where the resources to finance control operations remain very limited.

Faced this situation, the Central Fund for Emergency Response (CERF) of the United Nations has awarded more than $7 millions for humanitarian emergencies in Haiti. This amount will fund help finance six projects including 3 for cholera and 3 others for the food and nutrition sector.

List of projects financed :

2.3 million US ($ 2,366,305) to UNICEF for support to prevention and rapid response activities to the cholera epidemic at the national level;

322.762 million US to the International Organization for Migration (IOM) to ensure adequate and timely response to cholera alerts by the health sector in Haiti;

1,4 million US (1,456,087) to the World Health Organization, to ensure adequate and timely response to cholera alerts by the health sector in Haiti;

1.0 million US (1,000,022) to UNICEF for the response to the nutritional emergency in Haiti through the management and prevention of malnutrition among vulnerable groups;

945.422 dollars to the United Nations Food and Agriculture FAO for emergency assistance to farmers in drought-affected families in the departments of Southeast and Northwest;

1.0 million US (1,080,323) at the World Food Programme for emergency assistance to vulnerable households affected by drought in the Southeast department.

The fund granted to UN agencies in Haiti, aims to fill some of the operational deficits in the field compared to the amount of work to accomplish.
