François Max Gesner Beauvoir born August 25, 1936, more commonly known as Max Beauvoir, who was the first to be elevated to the rank of Ati national, Supreme Head of the Haitian voodoo March 7, 2008, to defend the history and religion of Haiti and fight against the negative image conveyed by some Catholic Protestant churches and other evangelical pastors, died Saturday afternoon in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, at the age of 79.

Recall that Max Beauvoir had called for the construction of Haiti "We must build Haiti [...] The vodouisant labor force is extraordinary, but the latter is not recognize in Haiti. In foreign countries, the same work force participates in the development."

"My sympathies to the family and friends of the National Ati Max Beauvoir, who passed away this September 12. A great loss for the country," declared the President of the Republic.

Max Beauvoir had obtained in 1958 a degree in chemistry from City College of New York, later he continued his studies at the Sorbonne (Paris, France 1959-1962) and earned a degree in biochemistry. In 1973 at the death of his father, he returned to Haiti and became voodoo priest. In 1974, he founded The Peristyle of Mariani.
