Haiti - FLASH : Lyonel Valbrun new Minister of Agriculture

After the resignation Tuesday of Minister of Communication François Rothchild Jr. https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-15158-haiti-flash-resignation-of-rothchild-francois-jr.html , Fresner Dorcin, the Minister of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Rural Development (MARNDR), was removed from office Thursday after 8 months spent at the head of that ministry.

As of Thursday afternoon, his successor, the Engineer Agronomist Lyonel Valbrun, which was for more than 4 years, until 2013, Director General at MARNDR was installed by Jude Hervé Day, Minister of Trade and industry in the absence of Evans Paul, on an official visit to the United States.

Jude Hervé Day indicated that this change is fully in line with the government's policy to strengthen national production, touting the merits and capabilities of the new Minister of Agriculture to carry out its new mission, recognizing that the task will be difficult and he will have an obligation of result.

For his part, the new Minister Valbrun thanked the President of the Republic Michel Martelly and Prime Minister Evans Paul for their confidence placed in him and declared "I know the work is difficult but I'll get to work today," requesting the cooperation of all executives and employees of the Ministry of Agriculture.
