Haiti - Economy : New budget of Haiti (2015-2016) without real progress

According to the Constitution the Government informs the population of the adoption the Council of Ministers of the new budget for the 2015-2016 fiscal year, which come into effect from Thursday 1 October 2015 and will end September 30, 2016.

In a note, the Government pointed out that the budget for fiscal year 2015-2016 aims to meet within the limits of available resources the needs of the population while maintaining the basic investment required for growth of at least 3.6 % of the real economy.

In broad outline, pending the assignment details, we learn that current expenditure will be 58.3 billion gourdes. Staff costs, goods and services will increase by 12.3% and 15.3%.

Capital spending will be 64.3 billion gourdes an increase of 8.1% over the previous year. The largest investments will be in agricultural infrastructure and the construction to support growth sector.

Note that these "increases" announced make reference to adjusted budget for the 2014-2015 fiscal year.

Internal financing is imperative, because the donations and loans will be reduced by 20%. To this end, the Government calls on all citizens and businesses to civic responsibility to fulfill their tax charges to generate revenue to finance national development and improvement of public services.
