Haiti - Football : The Grenadiers arrived in Trinidad and Tobago

The Grenadiers (Selection A men's football) arrived in Port of Spain (Trinidad and Tobago), to participate in the first round of the Caribbean Nations Cup, the last step of qualification for the finals of this championship which will be played at the end of November in Martinique.

The Haitian team, thanks to a partnership with the Brazilian NGO Viva Rio, the services of a professional staff of high level and training for three weeks in Rio de Janeiro. The national team has taken up residence at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Port of Spain, and will play the 2, 4 and 6 November at Marvin Lee Stadium in search of one of the two qualification places for the finals of the Digicel Cup.

For various reasons, the national team staff headed by a Brazilian, commissioned by Professor Edson Tavares, has been renewed almost entirely (except Leonel Saint Preux, Peterson Occenat, Parnel Guerrier, Sony Norde and Eliphène Cadet) for this competition, counting no less than a dozen players who have never played in national A or abroad.

Let us wish that the Grenadiers are more fortunate than our women's national team (The Grandière) who suffered a serious defeat, Sunday, Oct. 24, in a friendly match against Brazil (7-0) before fly to Cancun where they clashed last Thursday the USA. Dominated from start to finish the Grenadière had no chance and are inclined 5-0. The "Grenadières" face today in Cancun, the Costa-Rica, in

a second match for the qualifiers for the 2011 World Cup. We wish them back into shape very quickly.
