Haiti - Elections : Desras officially throws in the towel

Former Senate President Simon Desras Dieuseul, presidential candidate under the banner of "Party for the Liberation of Masses and Social Integration" (PALMIS) officially announced its withdrawal from the electoral race to a week on the elections and his support to Jude Célstin, candidate for president under the banner "Alternative League for the Progress and Emancipation of Haiti" (LAPEH).

Excerpts from the Declaration of Desras :

"You know I had a clear position against the elections which were realized on August 9, because we have seen that the CEP has never respected any legal deadlines, it was not selected supervisors in transparency, it has not chosen the electoral executive with transparency. He chose members of BV in opacity, they did the training of members of BV perhaps the eve of elections, they did not post the voter lists on time.

There is an opacity in the tabulation center, they tamper the results, 4,000 minutes disappeared, 700 acts of violence reported and the police had the behavior of a political police during the elections [...]

Today, I took the decision to officially my withdrawal from the electoral race [...]

[...] There are people asking us what to do, where to go after my decision not to go to elections. Several point analyzes, evaluations were made and finally we say two things: first we withdraw from the October 25 process, secondly we decided to endorse the candidacy of Jude Célestin, which means that there will be a wedding of #31 and #47."
