Haiti - Elections : «Haiti needs peace and stability» dixit Laurent Lamothe

Speaking on teleSUR in Port-au-Prince, the former Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe declared "Haiti needs peace and stability" at a time when the country is experiencing tensions following the publication of preliminary results of the presidential elections.

Laurent Lamothe considered that the voting day "was calm and demonstrated that the most important thing is Haiti's democracy." Stating that the irregularities have not tarnished the expression of the popular will "The idea of democracy is to listen everyone, to take the data and ensure that at the end of the day, this is what is right."

He stressed the necessity of obtaining an agreement between the parties reminding that "whoever wins the victory is for Haiti, for a continued economic growth, social progress and stability of the country [...]" adding insistently "We must continue with the stability to continue the work that was started 4 years ago."

Moreover, he stressed the importance of the legitimacy of future leaders for the country to continue in the Petrocaribe mechanism recalling that this mechanism "has helped in the construction of Haiti and this must be maintained, but we need for it, peace and stability."

Concluding "if there are a candidate who does not agree with the results, that he carries his case before the Electoral Tribunal, but Haiti can not continue in the violence."
