Haiti - Social : 4.540 Haitian

According to César Nicolás Castaing Jimenez, the Chief of CESFRONT (the special unit of border surveillance), which made a assessment of this special unit, announced that 4.540 Haitians were repatriated to Haiti between August 16th and November 1st, 2010 (in 76 days!).

Jimenez said that the CESFRONT was also performed during this same period, to the seizure of contraband, introduced illegally on the Dominican territory, of which: 46 bags of rice, 135 gallons of clairin, 15 cases of rum and 210 garlic bags.

Moreover, it with mentioned that its men had seizes, during this same period, nearly 46 lbs of marijuana, 183 motor bikes without plate nor document, 3 vehicles stolen and a weapon. Lastly, at the time of special operations, the CESFRONT destroyed, along the border, 45 charcoal kilns (prohibited in Dominican Republic) like 226 charcoal bags ready to be delivered on the Haitian market.

César Nicolás Jiménez Castaing, expressed his appreciation and recalled the instructions given by Lt. General Joaquín Pérez Virgilio Feliz, Minister for the Armed Forces, namely to be rigorous in carrying out the tasks entrusted to tackle crime and ensure control of the border.

Since the beginning of the cholera epidemic in Haiti, the "massive" militarization of the border and undocumented Haitian hunting, who live near the border in the Dominican Republic, leaving fear that the next assessment, in terms of expulsions (repatriation) of our countrymen is far more important. Unofficial sources cite figures between 100 and 200 Haitians returned to Haiti every day.
