Haiti - France : Arrival Saturday of a military aircraft with humanitarian aid

As of the reopening of the Toussaint Louverture International Airport on Saturday morning, a French military aircraft, delivered humanitarian supplies to Port-au-Prince.

Within the framework of the fight plan against the cholera epidemic and for the victims of the cyclone Tomas, this plane was carrying a ton of calcium hypochlorite, a powerful water purifier offered by the Suez group to the Haitian National Directorate of Water Supply and Sanitation (Direction Nationale de l'Eau Potable et de l'Assainissement DINEPA). This material is expected to supply the entire city of Port-au-Prince in drinking water for several weeks.

On board of this same military cargo plane, there were also 400 sheets offered by the French Red Cross to disaster victims. In total, 10,000 tarpaulins, from the Crisis Centre of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs French, will be delivered to Haiti in the coming days.

Other vectors will allow the delivery, next week of materials also requested by the Haitian government: 150 special beds offered by the Crisis Centre for Cholera Treatment Centres (CTC) established by the Red Cross across the country.

The French Foreign Ministry also funded, in partnership with the French Red Cross, an operation of assistance to the Haitian structures of early childhood up to 100,000 euros, always within the framework of the fight against the cholera.
