Haiti - Dominican Republic : Nearly 53,000 regularization cards still unclaimed...

On Thursday, the Dominican Ministry of Interior and Police (MIP) revealed that 184,816 out of 239,956 who qualified (98% of Haitians) to the National Plan for the Regularization of Foreigners (PNRE) have been given a provisional document certifying that they have a migration status in good standing in the Dominican Republic.

While our compatriots waited, sometimes day and night, fighting to register in the National Plan for the Regularization of Foreigners (PNRE) in rregular migration situation in the Dominican Republic https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-15668-haiti-notice-regularization-paradox-of-haitians-in-the-dr.html , Washington González, Vice Minister of the Interior and Police, revealed that there remained nearly 53,000 regularization documlents to distribute, still waiting for their owners. Recall that these parts can be removed at the Central Office located in the "Edificio de Oficinas Gubernamentales Juan Pablo Duarte" (Huacal), in the National District (regional offices being closed since 30 November 2015).

He indicated that every day, between 200 and 300 foreigners, mostly Haitians, presented themselves to get their card or the affixing of a sticker in their passport, which has the same regulatory force than the card, stating that "Those that do not come collect their documentation are at risk when their regularization document will expires or is about to expire, to find themselves again in an irregular immigration situation," adding that the MIP had not set a date for the end delivery of documents to those who have not yet removed them...

Remember that these documents have a limited duration of 1 to 2 years depending on the case, and once expired, they should be renewed at the headquarters of the Directorate General of Immigration "Until now it was not disclosed the amount of the fee or tax payable by foreigners for the renewal of this document. This will necessarily have a cost, because the PNRE, which was been as grace is over and that means a new card," clarified Washington Gonzalez.

Moreover, the Vice Minister noted that the MIP had contacted some organizations that collaborated in the regularization process for they inform recipients that they come to collect their documents. Recall that those who are registered with a passport, must come with the original, so that the regularization sticker is affixed.
