Haiti - January 12, 2010 : Message by US Ambassador Peter F. Mulrean

In this 6th anniversary of the earthquake that devastated Haiti January 12, 2010 at 4:53:10 (local time), the US Ambassador accredited to Haiti, Peter F. Mulrean Monday issued a message to the people of Haiti.

"Onè, respè, Pèp Ayisyen !

Tomorrow marks the 6th anniversary of the earthquake that devastated Haiti. Ittook away loved ones, left scars that will never heal.

But somehow, through tragic situations always arise a glimmer of hope.

'Goudougoudou' also discloses ordinary people doing extraordinary things within the Haitian community; social activists, artists, 'fanm vanyan', entrepreneurs.

I salute the courage, compassion and solidarity that the Haitian people has shown to heal and help relatives, neighbors or strangers during the dark days following that fateful day.

On behalf of the US government, we say YOU : 'Kenbe la, pa lage !'

Ambassadeur Peter F. Mulrean"
