Following the emergency situation resulting of climate change and drought threaten various parts of Haiti, with negative effects on the economy, the Directorate of Civil Protection (DPC), member of the Commission on drought, hosted Friday, January 15, the first meeting of this Commission, to the National Emergency Operation Centre (COUN) situated in Delmas 2.

Several representatives of Ministers and International partners involved directly or indirectly in this sector, such as the Ministry of Planning and External Cooperation (MPCE), the Ministry of Public Health and Population (MSPP), the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MCI), the National Meteorological Center (CNM) / Ministry of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Rura Development (MARNDR), the Directorate of Civil Protection (DPC) / Ministry of the Interior and Territorial Communities (MICT), the Council for Economic and Social Development (CDES), the World Food Programme (WFP), to name a few, participated in this meeting led by Lyonel Valbrun, the Minister of Agriculture.

Various parameters related to the situation were analyzed, as well as an estimation of availability compared to the needs related to the impacts of the crisis on the different sectors, has been taken into account to quickly develop intervention strategies articulated in a response plan to the situation drought.

Monday, January 18, the DPC hosted the Working Committee responsible for producing a framework document to address the acute crisis of continuing drought and achieve an inventory of the emergency situation throughout the territory of Haiti.

The useful recommendations will be annexed for the Ministries and institutions concerned : Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Planning, Ministry of Social Affairs, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Trade and Industry, Ministry of Public Works, Ministry Agricuture of the Ministry of Defense, Assistance Fund Economic and Social, Office of Monetization of Development Assistance Programs, National Center of Equipment and the Social Insurance Fund.
