Haiti - FLASH : Convocation of the National Assembly

A note signed by the President of the Senate of the Republic, Jocelerme Privert and the President of the Chamber of Deputies, Cholzer Chancy, informs the public in general that the Senators and Deputies are called to a session in National Assembly to be held this Thursday February 4, 2016 at 11:00 am at the legislative Palace. Dressed for the circumstance: black suit for the Senators and white for deputies.

"All Parliamentarians are invited to respond to this call for the full success of the session," indicates the note.

Agenda :

  • Opening of the first ordinary session of the 50th Legislature ;

  • Observation of the presidential vacuum from February 07 with the departure of the President of the Republic in accordance with Articles 134-1 and 134-2 of the Constitution.

Reminder of Articles 134.1 and 134.2 :

Article 134.1: The presidential term is five (5) years. This period begins and ends on February 7 following the date of the elections.

Article 134.2 : The presidential election takes place the last Sunday of October of the fifth year of the presidential term. The president-elect takes office on February 7 following the date of his election. If the vote can not take place before February 7, the President-elect takes office immediately after confirmation of the election and his term is believed to have started on 7 February of the election year.
