Friday, February 26, just hours before the inauguration by the President a.i. Jocelerme Privert, of the Prime Minister named Fritz-Alphonse Jean, Prime Minister Evans Paul accompanied by the government ministers, announced at a press briefing in his official residence, he would not participate in the ceremony at the National Palace https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-16722-haiti-flash-evans-paul-boycott-the-pm-s-installation-ceremony.html stating that his decision had nothing to do with his obligation to leave the Primature and responsibilities "In all the scenarios I'm in the end of mission period [...] I was always ready at any moment, or political circumstance to leave the Primature."
"[...] But we have a responsibility in relation to the State, to the country, we are privileged witnesses of an agreement, a political agreement and the main architect of this agreement is the current President of the Republic of Haiti, former Senator Jocelerme Privert; since according to all observations the agreement is not respected, the constitutional procedures are not followed, we do not want our presence goes condone any actions that seems to lead the country into chaos [...] if the Constitution is not respected, if the agreement in itself is not respected, at this point there is no difference, there is no basis [...]"
