Haiti - FLASH : Reaction of Prime Minister Jean

Sunday, after the rejection of his General policy, by the Assembly of Deputies https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-16930-haiti-flash-the-general-policy-statement-is-rejected.html Prime Minister named Fritz-Alphonse Jean, declared after leaving Parliament "[...] This is a democratic process that is running. A democratic process in Haiti is difficult and that for several reasons, it is difficult because we are in a country much polarized, it is difficult because we have to find our way as a Nation, we are looking our way

I do not think it is a failure, I think we are making history together, I thank all members of the cabinet who write this page of history with us and I tell you, other pages of history will be written together.

We must tell the people of Haiti, what just happened, reflects several things: the problems that there are in society, the difficulties we have to talk together and this reflects our capabilities until now to sit around a table for a wide consultation to say what we will do with the country.

I thank all the friends of GPEP, of GPI, nd all the other friends who are not part of the two blocks that have given me those 38 votes, 38 votes these mean that beyond this stage there are people who understood what I say in this statement of General Policy and the 36 people who voted against, I told them thank you for participating in the Assembly.

I hope that in the documents and conferences that I will give, they'll understand what I represent my vision of this country.

[...]

I thought the podium we had this evening was a podium allowing us to make a national debate on a series of aspects concerning us in the short term and also in the medium and long term, but unfortunately it did not happen

[...]

I am always open while I'm in Port-au-Prince, I'll be open when I am back home in St. Suzanne [...] and as Senator Senatus told me during a conversation, dear friend, see you for new struggles."
