Haiti - Security : Robbery in Delmas, police officers were effective

Saturday several armed individuals attacked the depot, "Lakay Provision Alimentaire" in Delmas 28, wounding shot the owner and the security officer of the depot.

The rapid police intervention, following the robbery, led to the arrest of 5 individuals and the seizure of a firearm caliber 9 mm, a Mitsubishi car, a motorcycle and a certain amounts of Gourdes and US dollars. An unknown number of thieves have unfortunately managed to flee.

Me Camille Junior Edouard, Minister of Justice and Public Security, praised the professionalism of the intervention of officers of the National Police of Haiti ensuring that "those arrested in connection with this case will be referred to the competent authorities to answer for their acts."

Furthermore, the Minister wishes a speedy recovery to the victims while reaffirming the commitment of the police to establish a peaceful and secure environment in the country. He argues that formal instructions were passed to law enforcement agents to track down the bandits and restore public confidence in the effectiveness of the police institution.
