Haiti - Agriculture : The Louis G. Lamothe Foundation give high priority to Haitian coffee

This Friday, April 22, 2016, as part of the celebration of International Earth Day on the theme "Trees for Earth", the Louis G. Lamothe Foundation, with several organizations, is mobilizing to give high priority to planting of coffee trees in Haiti and sensitize the Haitian population to preserving the environment for future generations.

Café Selecto Haïti, Seguin Foundation, SISALCO, Wynne Farm, the Associations of Coffee Planters Belle Anse and of Beaumont, CASEC of Souçailles and the Community of Panyol are joining this mobilization for the launch of Reforestation of Panyol program, while combating the disappearance of coffee in Haiti https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-17134-haiti-agriculture-haiti-from-producer-to-exporter-of-coffee.html

A planting of 1,500 coffee seedlings is scheduled this Friday, to which will be added 1,000 plants of Sisal and 1,000 of Loquats provided by participating organizations. A participation of approximately 300 school children and 200 adults in the community of Panyol is planned. The starting point of this event is at the entrance to Panyol on the road Furcy and the activity takes place from 7:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.

Besides such activity to Panyol, the Foundation also invites the rest of the Haitian population to ground as a symbolic gesture, a coffee plandule. Dr. Louis G. Lamothe Foundation hopes the initiative will help save the Haitian coffee at the risk of losing this valuable product for the Haitian economy.
