Abel Nazaire, the Minister of Youth, Sports and Civic Action, met with Margaret Graham, President of the Haitian Federation of Volleyball (FHVB). It was particularly question , of the practice of this discipline in Haiti and the major events of the Federation for the next 3 months.

Ms. Graham presented the Federation by focusing on efforts that were rewarded by the Caribbean Junior Girls title won last year and on major projects completed : the school national championship program; the national club tournament; continuous training of trainers provided annually by 3 instructors of the International Volleyball Federation; the organization of summer camps in various areas despite very limited resources and the contribution of volunteers to the FHVB.

Applauding the efforts of the Federation, the Minister Nazaire assured the President of the FHVB of its full support in its various initiatives. Building on international cooperation to address the meager budget allocated to the sector, the Minister proposed to Ms. Graham an opening towards international sports bodies in the region and the creation of partnerships with federations and foreign clubs.

After the meeting, Ms. Graham gave the Minister : the report of the school national championship 2016 and the record of the next big appointment of the Federation namely :

• The national tournament of clubs of 20 to 22 May 2016 ;

• The training of national trainers and the preparation of national teams ;

• The organization of a elimination phase of the World Cup 2018 (8 to 11 July 2016) ;

• The participation in the tournament of the NORCECA (North, Central America and Caribbean Volleyball Confederation) from 24 July to 1 August 2016.
