Haiti - Security : The Presidency and the Primature condemn shootings

Friday, in a note, the Presidency condemns in the strongest terms the acts of banditry and terror that occurred in the night from Thursday to Friday, June 24, 2016, taking as targets of commercial properties and facilities owned by national and international private sector https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-17835-haiti-flash-several-companies-including-the-marriott-riddled-with-bullets.html The Presidency expresses its solidarity to the private business sector and other entities victims of these attacks and aggressions odious and reprehensible.

"These criminal acts designed to intimidate the population and threaten the interests of the private sector, [...] are totally unacceptable [...] the perpetrators, co-perpetrators and accomplices will be apprehended, prosecuted and punished to the full extent of the Law [...] the President instructed the Government and the National Police to take all necessary measures and mobilize all means at their disposal to ensure the safety of lives and property as well as the well-being of the population."

Recalling that the actors of the national private sector and international investors "need confidence to continue to invest confidently in the country and create jobs, as necessary as desired."

For his part, the Primature abounds in the same direction and "strongly condemns without reserve the wild and irresponsible act suffered by several private companies in the capital [...]

[...] Nothing can justify such behavior which may have serious consequences for our economy [...] Formal instructions have been passed to the relevant authorities and the law enforcement that decreed the permanence in order to strengthen security measures for the protection of lives and property and take action against the perpetrators of this act of vandalism that can only hamper job creation and the attraction of private investment [...]
