Haiti - Elections : The 3 funding scenarios of elections of Government 29/07/2016 10:05:45
Wednesday, in Council of Ministers, Yves Romain Bastien, the Minister of Economy and Finance presented three possible scenarios to find the $55 million required to achieve the next elections stressing "[...] we say that the best scenario for us is the first that we introduced earlier, I will resume for the country : we would have a primary source of funding from dividends of public companies that we have already collected, including: the National Port Authority (APN) 323 million gourdes, the Bank of the Republic of Haiti (BRH) 127 million, the National Bank of Credit (BNC) 68 million, Les Moulins d'Haïti (LMH) 180 million; the sales of tax on exceptional dividend 97.7 million [...] 845 million gourdes for 2015-2016 financial year (amending budget) [...] and the funds managed by UNDP 390 million gourdes.
The financing of electoral activities from the budget 1,542,993,656 including 1,300 billion (1 billion 300 million gourdes) from credit we are going to allocate electoral activity and credit reallocation in the budget, which would make us 3.575 billion gourdes equivalent of $ 55 million, with the possibility of making changes, however if we manage to create enough stability, both at the political and at the level of the management of monetary resources [...]"
