Haiti - Social : The ANH unable to meet the demands of Haitians living in the DR

Following the one-year extension (until 17 July 2017) granted by the Dominican Republic to nearly 140,000 Haitians enrolled in the National Plan for Regularization of Foreigners (PNRE) to enable them to complete their documents missing for the regularization of their migratory situation https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-18010-haiti-flash-danilo-medina-grants-one-year-more-to-140-000-haitians.html ; Wilfrid Bertrand Director General of the National Archives of Haiti (ANH) said on Thursday that his institution was not able to respond to requests for archive and extracts of birth certificates of Haitians living in the Dominican Republic before 2017...

Lets' recall that out a total of 52,000 cases registered in the National Plan for Regularization of Foreigners (PNRE) implemented by the Dominicans, only 9,000 requests had been met since the beginning of Identification Program and Documentation of Haitian Immigrants (PIDIH), initiated by the Government of Haiti in July 2014, despite promises constantly repeated.

Clearly, with additional requests coming and those awaiting, unless a change in attitude and will of the Haitian government, it is unlikely once again, that our compatriots are documented before the end the new deadline

and they still live the next 12 months, in fear of a future expulsion from Dominican territory.
