Haiti - Elections : Authentication of National Identity Cards

Me Camille Edouard Junior, the Minister of Justice and Public Security, said that the implementation by the National Identification Office (ONI), of the authentication process of the National Identity Card (CIN), has no political motivation.

According to some sectors that process could affect participation rates of voters in the October elections, while others believe that this process is likely to tamper the CIN...

However, Me Edouard Camille Junior, indicates this authentication process, is a prerogative of the ONI conferred by its organic law, it has no political goal, and has nothing political, but only seeks to protect the holders of CIN of any use by third parties.

In a message ONI encourages citizens to authenticate their CIN « Bonjou tout moun. Ofis Nasyonal Idantifikasyon ap swete nou pase yon bòn semèn. Lap profite tou raple nou poun pase nan biwo ONI ki pi pre lakay nou an poun ka otantifye kat idantifasyon Nasyonal nou. »
