Following the announcement of election results, and given the riots and the deteriorating of the social conditions, several airlines have announced Wednesday the suspension of their flights to and from Haiti.

American Airlines, the largest international airline in Haiti, operates three daily flights from Miami, one from New York, another from Fort Lauderdale (Florida) and one from San Juan, Puerto Rico, via American Eagle. "We canceled our flights today and tomorrow because employees of the company and those of the airport could not get to work" said Martha Pantin, a spokeswoman for the American company, based in Miami "we continue to be attentive to the situation and hope to restore service as soon as possible," she added.
