Haiti - Politic : The Caricom determined to help Haiti

Roosevelt Skerrit, the President of the Caribbean Community (Caricom) in Haiti since Tuesday, during his meeting with the de facto President Jocelerme Privert, said the regional body he heads will provide assistance to Haiti in its reconstruction after the destructive passage of Hurricane Matthew.

Caricom has issued a statement in which he indicates that Skerrit made an aerial tour of four hours in the most affected areas by Matthew in Haiti to see firsthand the extent of damage.

The Agency for Emergency and Disaster Management of the Caribbean, an institution of Caricom, will assess the damage and identify priority sectors.

Recall that the CCRIF insurance company, under the supervision of the Agency, has awarded compensation of over $ 20 million to Haiti under an insurance policy against hurricanes. https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-18910-haiti-politic-the-ccrif-will-pay-more-than-$20-to-haiti.html

Skerritt will ends his tour in the Bahamas on Thursday.
