Haiti - Humanitarian : Japan alongside Haiti

As part of the humanitarian Flash Appeal of $119.8 million launched in Geneva by the United Nations, on October 10 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-18897-haiti-flash-un-launches-a-$120m-flash-appeal-for-haiti.html Japan has decided to provide additional emergency assistance totaling 3 million US dollars.

This additional assistance will strengthen the offer of relief goods already granted through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) https://www.icihaiti.com/en/news-18885-icihaiti-humanitarian-japanese-solidarity.html few days after the hurricane and also demonstrate the feelings of sympathy and solidarity with the Haitian people.

Detail of Japanese assistance :

$1 million : For a food offer for the immediate need and support for the strengthening of carrying capacity (Logistics) through the World Food Programme (WFP) to cover losses at the farm level and of head of cattle;

$1 million : For a water and sanitation program through the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) to curb the cholera epidemic whose situation has worsened in the affected areas;

$500,000 : For health services and emergency medical services through the IFRC (International Federation of the Red Cross);

$500,000 : To realize a program to support the restoration of life and create a means of income through the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) after the emergency phase.

Given the scale of damage that requires a genuine spirit of solidarity, Japan is committed to responding the challenges alongside Haiti, while working closely with the international community. "The Government and people of Japan are eager that through the programs implemented, the victims, their families and relatives resumed the course of their lives as soon as possible and continue to engage in the development and stability of Haiti."
