The Ministry of the Interior and Territorial Communities is "concerned by the scenes of violent protests, looting of public and private property as well as serious offenses against the public order" that prevailed Tuesday in Les Cayes.

"It deplores the fatal shooting, in mysterious circumstances of a teenager on the morning of 1st November and the casualties recorded during the day, in the Capital of the South Department." Also, the relevant State bodies were seized and immediately instructed to ensure their responsibilities in this situation, which raised the anger within the population of the 3rd largest city.

"The Ministry condemns in the strongest terms the obstacles and pressures of Mayors and the South Departmental Delegate, direct State representatives, and the premeditated attacks against their persons and their property.
