Haiti - Economy : The budget of Haiti 2010-2011, passes the 100 billion gourds 14/12/2010 14:27:48
Ronald Baudin, Minister of Economy and Finance, presented yesterday, Monday, the state budget for 2010-2011. For the first time, the budget exceeds 100 billion, reaching a total of 106.3 billion gourds. In this budget, 34.3 billion gourds will be allocated to operating expenses of the state and 71.9 billion for investment. He said that the investment spending will be funded from the public treasury (12.5 billion), the Petro Caribe (12.5 billion), [integrated for the first time in the budget] and Cooperation International (43.9 billion gourds). Regardless of how Ronald Baudin presents his budget, it must be remembered that ± 66% of the national budget, either close of two thirds of our public expenditure depend on the international community [according to the Initiative Civil society] either : Donations (46.34%), Loans (9.39%), Petro Caribe Fund (8.07%). For more information: According to the Minister of Economy, the budget will allow the Haitian government to face cholera epidemic (250 million gourds additional for MSPP) but also to continue its intervention in economic infrastructure, to strengthen the investments of the private sector. In spite of the difficulties which Haiti crosses, Ronald Baudin estimates for this exercise, a growth rate of 10% and an inflation rate not exceeding 7%. The Minister expects revenue of 36 billion gourds from the General Administration of Customs (22.2 billion) and the Directorate General of Taxes (DGI) 12.9 billion gourds.
