Haiti - Elections : Digicel CEO convened to the Public Prosecutor's Office

Me Jean Danton Léger, the Commissioner of the Government convened Maarten Boute, the CEO of the Digicel Telephone Company, for explanations of allegations of publication on its network, of certain electoral results in violation of the Electoral Decree.

Convening of the Chief Prosecutor :

"Mr. Maarten Boute

CEO of the Digicel Telephone Company

In its Offies.-

Mr,

The Office of the Public Prosecutor of Port-au-Prince presents its compliments and, as part of its sacrosanct mission of law enforcement, is obliged to invite you to appear at the said Prosecutor's Office on Monday, November 28, 2016 at 10 am on the grounds that your company has published some results of the elections held in the country on 20 November in flagrant violation of the Electoral Decree governing elections.

For the Parquet

Mag. Jean Danton Léger

Government Commissioner"

A parquet that seems not to frequent the social networks, otherwise he would have read on the Twitter account of Maarten Boute that this one had written on November 22 "Only CEP can give official results. All the rest should be ignored." November 22 in response to a person telling him "Just learnt Digicel was sending sms saying PHTK won presidency" he has answered "All I can say is that Digicel did not send this message nor can we control all third party messages. It's as simple as that," specifying to another person that the "Digicel, does not validate messages sent out by third party providers. This particular one sent these messages from abroad."
