Haiti - Security : IGPNH, 456 acts of investigation

This week, Inspector Wilkens Jean of the General Inspectorate of the Haitian National Police (IGPNH) reported on the latest operations over the past 30 days, the IGPHH received 456 acts of investigation for the month of November 2016, 92 convocations, 123 hearings, 17 neighborhood investigation, 15 invitations, 159 confiscated checks, 10 confrontations, 2 mediations, 8 conservatory measures in total, 22 precautionary measures, 4 isolations and 2 isolations lifted.

The IGPNH received 79 complaints, up, 8 for physical and verbal assault, 5 for homicide and murder, 4 for beating, 8 for assault, 3 for abuse, 7 for threats, 6 for breach of trust, 2 for traffic accidents involving police officers who refused to take their responsibilities, also 7 for refusal to take care of their children, 5 for fraud, 3 for unjustified shooting, abuse of authority or persecution, and 8 for retention of documents, 1 for destruction of property.

Also, he calls on the units responsible for the management of street demonstrations and situations of post-election disturbances to show impartiality, common sense and professionalism in accordance with the PNH's egulatory principles, inviting police officers to "avoid overflows and provocations [...] in the context of the management of the post-electoral situation..."
