The Haitian Heritage Foundation for Haiti (LFHH), the Haitian section of Transparency International, calls on parties, political platforms and candidates who participated in the November 2016 elections to make public as soon as possible a list of grants and donations received in nature and cash and their provenance. It also requests disclosure of the list of all expenses incurred in the campaigns of each candidate.

The LFHH requests that all of this information be sent to the media, to the Anti-Corruption Unit (ULCC) and also be posted in the headquarters of political parties and platforms.

LFHH considers that there is no democracy without independence and understands that the saying "who pays commands" has too often proved itself in Haitian politics. Parties and candidates can not serve two masters at the same time: the Haitian people and the providers of funds. Therefore, it is essential to ensure that there is no umbilical cord between some parties with unhealthy donors.

LFHH also urges parties and political platforms as well as candidates to respect the electoral law in its article 135 on the obligation to submit to the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP), within 30 days of the proclamation of the final results "the detailed and complete list of all donations and the financial report of the campaign duly signed by a chartered accountant."

The Foundation recalls that the funding of political parties and candidates must be transparent and legitimate in order to avoid any suspicion or perception on the source of funds during the campaigns of the candidates. Moreover, the LFHH also wants a law on the regular financing of political parties to be adopted by the next Parliament in order to facilitate parties' access to public funds, to break with opacity and to end corruption and clientelism, wich too often tarnish the financing of political parties in Haiti.
