Haiti - Politics : Ministers of Justice and Health defies Senate

Thursday, following their interpellations by the Senate https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-19847-haiti-politics-procedure-of-interpellation-against-the-minister-of-justice.html the Ministers of Justice and Public Health defied the Upper House by refusing to appear.

In addition, only 15 senators were present to the roll-call, for lack of quorum (16), the session could not be held. Senators Evalière Beauplan, Nenel Cassy and Antonio Chéramy (close to Lavalas) were absent (as expected), bringing their supporters to Camille Édouard Jr. (Pro Privert), Minister of Justice and Dr Daphnée Benoit Delsoin, Minister of Health (Lavalas), also interpellated for her lack of cooperation with the Senate and its inaction in the repeated strikes that paralyze public hospitals in the country. Note that Senator Willot Joseph (PHTK) was also absent for an unknown reason.

For Senator Jean-Rénel Sénatus it is a "rebellion", a lack of respect towards republican institutions, stressing that it is the authority of the Senate that is at stake and that it is time for the Senate to be at the height of its task, asserting that an institutional response will be given to this affront without specifying its form. A position shared by several of his colleagues.
