Haiti - Elections : Partial annulment of elections in Saint-Marc

During the election on November 28, 2010, 161 polling stations of Saint-Marc (Artibonite Department) were ransacked and preliminary results have considered only the 76 minutes of polling stations still intact.

Following the challenges presented before the Departmental Electoral Challenges Office (BCED), Claudel Saintilien, the President of the Departmental Electoral Offices (BED) of the Artibonite said: "For the town of Saint Marc, we just cancel elections for deputies. By cons, we will record the vote for the senate, revoking, following this verdict, the publication of preliminary results for the deputation which included a second round between the candidates Odigie Biron, 1.517 votes, 23.61% (INITE) and Toussaint Altes, 1.194 votes, 18.59% (AAA).

The reactions of the two candidates in the second round did not expect, Odigie Biron (INITE) has estimated that this decision is illegitimate and that he will go before the National Electoral Challenges Office, (BCEN) to break this decision. As for Toussaint Altes (AAA) he does not comment, deferring to his Lawyers the follow up to this decision of the electoral tribunal.

For other candidates, the recovery of these elections, on new bases safer and healthier, is consistent with the facts.
