The Center for International Cooperation in Health and Development (CCISD), a Canadian organization present in Haiti since 2002, will begin the second phase of the project "Integrated Management of Mother and Child Health in Artibonite" (PRISMA), with financial support from the Government of Canada.

With a budget of approximately 1 billion gourdes (± C $ 20 million), CCISD will be able to resume and strengthen its support to increase the supply quality services in sexual and reproductive health, maternal, neonatal and children (SRMNE) of front-line, in 8 of the 15 communes of the Artibonite department.

"This new funding from the Government of Canada will allow us to consolidate what has been achieved, while expanding our scope to include three additional communes, which we are very pleased about," explained Dr. Ludzen Sylvestre, CCISD representative in Haiti.

Overall, PRISMA 2 officials estimate that about 146,000 women of childbearing age, 66,000 children under five and 13,700 pregnant women will be able to benefit directly from the services offered in health facilities supported by this Project.

With the collaboration of the Ministry of Public Health and Population (MSPP), as well as the Departmental Health Department of Artibonite (DDSA), PRISMA 2 will contribute to the strengthening of the governance in the mmanagement of Reproductive, Mother, Newborn and Child Health (SRMNE) of the Department, the institutional strengthening of sexual and reproductive health services (SSR) and Basic Emergency Obstetric and Neonatal Care (SONUB).

PRISMA 2 will support the Haitian government in its implementation of the National Strategic Plans for Integral Child and Family Health and Reproductive Health and Family Planning of the MSPP, as well as the Gender Equality Policy of the Haitian Government of the Ministry for the Status of Women.
