Haiti - Social : Lieutenant-Colonel Joseph Michel François passed away in Honduras

On Tuesday in San Pedro Sula (Honduras), the former Lieutenant-Colonel of the Armed Forces of Haiti (FAD'H) Joseph Michel François died suddenly at the age of 60 years, according to his relatives, of a heart problem.

Remember that Joseph Michel François was one of the main authors of the bloody coup of 30 September 1991 against President Jean-Bertrand Aristide (elected in December 1990).

Subsequently, he had taken shelter in the Dominican Republic before being expelled a few years later for his supposed involvement in a plot against President Préval. He then found refuge in Honduras in April 1996 where he lived in exile until his death. Note that despite requests for extradition from Haiti (1997 and 1998), Honduras has always refused to extradite him.
