Haiti - Social : Radio loses one of its famous radio host

The Ministry of Culture and Communication has learned with great sadness the death of the famous Haitian radio host, Joseph "Joe" Damas, on the evening of Saturday, March 4, after courageously fighting against lung cancer.

Joseph "Joe" Damas was one of those rare Haitian animators, because of his seniority in the milieu with more than 30 years of career, to have made school and marked its time. From Radio Métropole where he began his radio career in 1977, to Magik Stereo, where he spent some time before returning to Radio Métropole, Joseph Damas was appointed in August 2013, Director General of the Radio Télévision Nationale d'Haiti (RTNH), without stopping his career as an animator.

Joe Damas is the kind of animator who always surprised his listeners by taking them off the beaten path with his unusual and captivating voice, [he was also a singer and guitarist]. Modeste, always the just replicated at the microphone, versatile and respectful of his collaborators, Joe Damas leaves a great emptiness in the field of the radio in Haiti.

In this painful circumstance, the Ministry of Culture and Communication expresses its deepest sympathy to the family of "Joe", friends, collaborators, all those who have supported it in its ultimate fight against cancer and its thousands of faithful listeners who are now mourning the departure of their favorite animator.
