Haiti - Politics : Why of Senators reverse the quorum ?

The reversal of the quorum Monday disappointed President Jovenel Moïse. The consistent information that are circulating suggests that this would be due to the dissatisfaction of negotiations by certain senators. On this point Lucien Jura, the Spokesperson of the Head of State is very clear: yes to the discussions, but not to a will to impose choices on the executive...

While affirming that the formation of the ministerial cabinet is one of the prerogatives of the executive power, he does not close the door to changes in the cabinet explaining "There can be a gateway of discussion, but no question that a power enslaves another [...] The Presidency appeals to the patriotism and responsibility of senators and invites them to endow the country as quickly as possible with a government to find solutions to the problems of the day."

For his part, Sen. Joseph Lambert (KONA), an ally of the PHTK, said that the departure of four Senators of PHTK and allies of President Moïse, at the session of Monday, having provoked the quorum reversal, was a strategy that aimed to prevent the rejection of Jack Guy Lafontant's General Policy Statement, due to the dissatisfaction of negotiations with a number of his colleagues, which he refrained from naming. He said that if the meeting had taken place on Monday, the Prime Minister would have obtained only 12 votes (16 required) and would therefore have been rejected. According to him, this was a strategy to protect the Prime Minister from failure.
