Haiti - Justice : ODVA victim of fraud for more than 17 million Gourdes

According to the investigators of the Anti-Corruption Unit (ULCC), a diversion of more than 17 million Gourdes has been discovered within the Artibonite Valley Development Organization (ODVA).

The investigation has already allowed to accuse at least 6 officials for forgery in writing, embezzlement of public goods and forfeiture. Several suspected employees are still under investigation.

The operation mode of these persons did not limited to the duplication and falsification of checks, they also created false files containing, among others, documents of expenditure and false invoices to justify exits of money for fictitious works.

The investigation is still ongoing certain information remains confidential to avoid the escape of some persons suspected of involvement in this vast fraud whose all aspects and total damage are still unknown. The elements of the investigation were transmitted to the Public Prosecutor's Office of Saint Marc for the legal suites.
