Haiti - Security : PNH Launches Operation «Hurricane» against crime

At a press briefing, Senior Inspector Gary Desrosiers, Deputy Spokesman for the Haitian National Police (HNP), gave details on "Operation Hurricane", which began deploying last Tuesday. Is aimed at fighting crime and putting bandits out of state of causing trouble

This one-month operation will be deployed in 3 departments: West, Artibonite and North mobilize more than 3,000 police officers (20% of the national total). Targeted areas of operation include markets, bus stations, tourist sites, and vehicle stations.

For the Department of the West, 200 officers from various specialized HNP units will be deployed in strategic locations in the Metropolitan Region [Motorized Intervention Brigade (BIM), the Brigade of Departmental Intervention (BOID), the Departmental UInit of Maintenance of Order (UDMO), the Central Direction of the Road Police (DCPR)] the SWAT will remain in reserve if needed, Gary Desrosiers said.

In addition, Gary Desrosiers pointed out that "Operation Hurricane" also includes the security of President Moïse' travel within the framework of the caravan of change, whose 5-year tour will begin on Monday, May 1.
