As part of the 214th anniversary celebration of the Haitian flag, Haitian Ambassador to Mexico, Guy G. Lamothe delivered a message to the Haitian diaspora living in Mexico with special thought for our compatriots in Tijuana and Mexicali (Cities border with the USA), thanks to the goodwill of the Mexican Government.

Message from Ambassador Guy G. Lamothe :

"Dear compatriots of the Haitian diaspora in Mexico,

The Embassy of Haiti in Mexico, always faithful to the ephemerides of its national history, takes advantage of the 214th anniversary of the creation of the Haitian flag, to highlight for you the pivotal date of May 18, 1803, with the intention of a citizen appropriation of the symbolism emanating from it.

The Embassy would like to point out first that the creation of the national blue and red bicolor, to Arcahaie is the witness of an historic initiative of exemplary value and model. A remarkable example, given by the founding fathers of the homeland, Jean-Jacques Dessalines and Alexandre Pétion, of political and social consensus, convergence of interests for a project of society beneficial to all : the end of European colonialism. This is an unavoidable model for the girls and sons of Dessalines and Petion of Haiti and elsewhere, who are genuinely anxious to ally themselves in order to work in harmony and enjoy together in peace the ancestral heritage.
