Limond Toussaint, the Minister of Culture bowed to the immense career of the emblematic figure of the Haitian folk dance, Viviane Gauthier who died Thursday June 1, near the celebration of her 100 years.

A pioneer of traditional dance in Haiti, Viviane Gauthier will leave her mark for a long time in the landscape of this discipline thanks notably to the many talents and pupils that she could carry in her passion "The whole cultural sector crossed the fingers and wished to see Viviane Centenary next year. We are all shocked. But her well-filled 99 years have provided this cultural expression that is folk dance, enough renewable energies for centenarians to come."

In addition to her many distinctions, Viviane Gauthier was honored in 2015 by the Ministry of Culture for her contribution to the development of art in Haiti.

"The role played by Mrs. Gauthier in the development of traditional dance in Haiti will remain unforgettable. It is the whole country that pays homage today to the genius of an artist, to the remarkable qualities of a woman of Culture who, from her lifetime, had received the sacrament of history.
