Haiti - Brazil : Towards the strengthening of bilateral cooperation 05/06/2017 10:41:18
Saturday morning, Prime Minister Jack Guy Lafontant held an important working meeting with a delegation from the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs led by Chancellor Aloysio Nunes Ferreira, in various fields of cooperation such as: health, agriculture, Security and vocational training. It should be recalled that in the context of the Tripartite Cooperation between Haiti, Brazil and Cuba, Brazil has already financed the operation of three reference hospitals for up to $20 million, the Haitian State has already benefited from technical and financial assistance Brazil in the construction of two vaccination centers in Port-de-Paix and Jérémie, in epidemiological surveillance, in the strengthening of the national ambulance center and in the training of medical staff. Brazilian cooperation also extends to other priority sectors such as strengthening the Haitian National Police and vocational training. To this end, Brazil has a budget of $17 million for the implementation of a vocational training center. It also plans to assist in the development of the cotton sector in the country. The Haitian government wishes to deepen its cooperation with Brazil in the fight against border smuggling, illicit drug trafficking and the strengthening of military engineering equipment park. Chancellor Ferreira undertook to convey to his government the wishes of a strengthened partnership formulated by the Haitian authorities, aimed in particular at the construction of a surgery center in Jérémie, the reinforcement of the National Police of Haiti (PNH) and of military engineering in anticipation of the departure of the Minustah.
