Haiti - Health : Dialysis and service availability in the Country

Monday, Dr Lauré Adrien, Director General of the Ministry of Public Health, presented on the framework of the Mondays of the press, the advances of the dialysis methods and the plan of fight against the diphtheria.

He expressed satisfaction with the way in which the State , through its health infrastructures, appropriates the different methods of dialysis in the country as well as the availability of the service. Recalling that with the opening of a new Dialysis Center at the Office of Workers' Compensation, Sickness and Maternity (OFATMA) https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-20972-haiti-health-inauguration-of-a-dialysis-service-at-the-ofatma-hospital.html patients with renal insufficiency can now receive appropriate care outside the General Hospital.

Dr. Laure Adrien, who welcomes the involvement of President Moïse in setting up new Centers, promises to extend, through OFATMA, dialysis services in provincial towns to save more lives.

Moreover, given the importance of diphtheria, he announced that the Ministry of Health intends to set up a cordon sanitaire in order to limit the disease. Mini-vaccination and awareness campaigns will be organized to curb the disease.
